Administration or “Ad Ministry” as it is often called is an overlooked area of ministry for our seminaries and for many ministers in different places in their careers. Personally, I am very thankful that I had a rich career life before entering ministry that has properly prepared me for my role as an Ad-Minister. A minister serving as Head of Staff must have these skills and an understanding of Human Resources, Church Finances, Budgets, Stewardship, etc. It’s essential for a Head of Staff Minister to regularly meet with staff and volunteers, set clear goals, evaluate staff, volunteers and programs and work with the HR or Personnel team per policy. Ad-Ministry allows us to live out our highest UU ethics, values, and morals within our walls and outside of our walls. Effective Ad-ministry helps us to actualize our Mission and Vision through sound finances and most of all it helps us to grow stronger people and communities!
